For full job description and details on how to apply: https://derrycityandstrabanedistrict.getgotjobs.co.uk/home.   KEY PURPOSE: Manage the delivery of local and regional capital works projects of significant scale and complexity and provide advice and guidance on design and construction matters and manage associated staff and budgets.   Deputise for Capital Works Principal Project Managers as and when required in relation to capital projects and represent Council in dealings with project partners and stakeholders.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  1. Manage a range of local and regional building, civil/structural engineering and place-making projects of significant scale and complexity from economic appraisals stage through to design, construction, commissioning and handover of the completed projects on behalf of Council, project partners and stakeholders.   2. Manage the procurement of consultant teams and contractors on behalf of Council, external partners and stakeholders, including compilation of detailed project briefs, prequalification & tender documentation and operator selection all in accordance with both local and central government procurement guidance, procedures and legislation.    3. Ensure contracts are executed for all professional services and works capital contracts (using NEC suite of contracts) and that contracts are adequately administrated and that robust change and risk management procedures are followed, including the timely management of requests for information, early warnings and compensation events.    4. Maintain comprehensive, up to date project files covering governance arrangements, health & safety, risk management, cost plans, programmes, statutory approvals, procurement, dashboard reports, etc.  Report to project board meetings and chair steering group meetings, including compilation of board papers and minutes of meetings.    5. Obtain all statutory approvals for capital projects such as planning permission, building control approval, traffic/roads approvals, environmental approvals and discharge consents.    6. Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation in accordance with Council’s Policies and Procedures.   7. Undertake any other duties appropriate to scale, which may be required from time to time.   8. Comply with and actively promote the Council’s policies and procedures on all aspects of equality.   The postholder should be aware that the responsibilities of the post may be subject to change as a result of organisational change.  The Council therefore reserves the right to change the duties of the post by adding to or amending the range of responsibilities.  The postholder will be required to be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs and requirements of the organisation.     Closing date: 30/09/2021 16:00.
